We left AZ Wednesday night at about 6:30. An hour out we realized that we had left all of our bathroom stuff. Toothbrushes, my glasses, makeup, everything. We did NOT want to turn around so we decided we would just buy all new stuff and I would have to survive with only my contacts. We got into Albuquerque at about 2 their time. We got a hotel room and crashed.
Friday morning we went to breakfast and then the boys dropped me off to get my hair done. It felt like forever since I had seen John and my hair needed his help badly! 3 hours later people were starting to show up at Steve's before we even got back. It was great to see that all these people were as excited to see us as we were them. I met Jacobs sisters and kids, lots of his friends from work. I knew a lot of people that showed up, but people came and went so often if I had to guess 50 people or more were there throughout the night. My friend Jamie came down from Denver and we got to catch up for a little bit. The night lasted until about 1 and I am surprised I was able to last that long. I did go to bed before the last of Jacobs family left, but I just couldn't stay up any longer.
Saturday morning Jacob and I met Jamie for breakfast before she headed back up to Denver. By the time we were done it was time to go home and pick up the rest of the bunch to go to Jacobs cousin's wedding reception. We got there at about 1 or so. I met a lot more if Jacobs family and got to enjoy the nice weather. I know a lot of people were pretty hot, but it felt great to Jacob and I. After leaving 113 degree weather, we can now appreciate summer days in Colorado :) Marcia, Brianna, Ashlyn, Katie and I left at about 7. The altitude did hit me a bit while we were there and I had a few dizzy spells Friday and Saturday. We went back to Brianna's house and Marcia brought us Chick-Fil-A since it had been a while since we had ate. I headed back to the house soon after and enjoyed some quiet time, that it until the boys were back home at about 11:30.
Sunday I think everyone was pretty exhausted. We met Brock for breakfast and I wanted to head to Garden of the Gods, but it was cloudy and looked it might rain. Jacob was also not in the best condition to be going. We had about an hour to kill before my baby shower so we went back to the house and laid down. Jacob came to the shower to see his family one last time and to meet the people there that he hadn't before. I had a great time at the shower and there was quite a turn out. It lasted about 3 hours and Nadia made out great in the gift department. She has LOTS of cute clothes to wear :) The girls did a great job on the shower and I am very thankful that they threw it for me. We got back to the house around 6 and were trying to decide if we should leave that night to break up the trip or wake up super early to leave. We were so exhausted that we went to sleep almost as soon as we were home and just couldn't get up to leave. We set our alarm and slept until about 3. We packed up our car and headed out.
It was such a quick trip and we left feeling like we didn't get to spend as time with everyone as we wanted. The drive home took us about 13 hours. We had to come home unload the car and go to my parents to pick up the pups. They were very excited to see us, but I do think they miss how much attention they were getting from their Grandpa. My Mom wanted us to stay and tell her all about our trip, but we were just too exhausted. We came home and laid down. My rib was KILLING after that long drive and it was so nice to lay in our comfy bed. I fell asleep pretty fast, but woke up in the middle of the night with a massive leg cramp. All I could say is "Oh sh*t, oh sh*t!!" I scared the crap out of Jacob, he sat straight up saying "what's wrong, what's wrong" I was trying to massage the cramp out, but I couldn't get to it over my big belly! It finally went away, but man and I sore today. Guess I need to drink a LOT of water today!
