Daddy giggles

The art of Juggling

Since I have activated my license things have been pretty crazy. This is good, but bad. Tuesday we had our weekly meeting and I signed a contract with my boss and ReMax. If things start picking up with buyers to the point where I can't do both jobs they will find a replacement for me at the office. Right now its nice having the guaranteed income plus the commissions I can make off selling, but eventually it will get to be too much.

My Dad was afraid that he was getting shingles again, so he wasn't sure if he should watch Nadia Tuesday. I had to work, plus had a client to take out that afternoon. I was pretty stressed out about what I was going to do. Yes, I say "I". I have a new found appreciation for working Moms. It falls on the mother to make sure their child is taken care of. Men's jobs are typically deemed "more important". I don't get this, but I had my own taste of it Tuesday. Jacob said "Well, what are you going to do?" That was the first time it hit me. Its all on me. I ended up chancing the shingles and sent her over there anyway. Thankfully, it turned out not to be. I have been trying very hard not to let the fact that I have a new baby at home interfere with my job. I want to be able to handle it all. I am trying my hardest, but I was sure I wasn't going to win. Let's face it I went back to work when Nadia was 2 weeks old, she is 5 months old now. Most women still wouldn't be back to work. I didn't give myself enough time to recoup. I never imagined what a hard time I would have emotionally/mentally. The good news is, I think I am finally beginning to level out. I know that Jacob tries his hardest, and he does very well with helping me, I can't imagine what it must be like for some women. Even with as much help as he does give, there are certain things he is going to have to live without. Like sleeping in. I have also asked him to please start helping at night. For the last month or more Nadia wakes up at least 2-3 times a night. I am exhausted, and I am still trying to work and take care of the house and us. Jacob generally sleeps in every morning until about 830. I am up at 7 trying to get myself ready and Nadia, which is not easy. I have asked him if he can please start waking up and helping me on the mornings I need it. His job is more physical and I understand that, but no one can go around sleep deprived and trying to handle everything. He was eager to help which gave me great relief. Sometimes we forget that we need to tell people, especially men, when we need help and what we need them to do.

Valentines Day as a family

Weeks have just been flying by with how busy we have been. I have been much busier at work, which is wonderful. I should be taking out more buyers this week. I can't wait until I actually close on a deal. Today I am going to work one of our Open Houses. You usually get curious people but if I can capture any potential buyers, the price range is great!

Thursday we took Brick to the airport, his stay went by very quickly. Its pretty quiet around the house now. It's hard to get used to another person in your home then they leave and its hard to get used to that! We can get things back to normal and in our routine again. Routine is heavenly when you have a baby, without it, the day collapses.

Friday my parents came over to bring Nadia her Valentines Day gift. They gave her a cute white teddy bear, which she loves. Then I went out to dinner with them to Rigatoni's. I brought Jacob food home since he was working late. When I got home we noticed that my Mom had left her eye drops from her eye surgery (she had cataracts removed) so we grove to meet my Dad to drop them off. It was pretty late by then so we headed home and played Rock Band. We are cheating on our good ole Guitar Hero World Tour. LOL The instruments are interchangeable so we have some new songs to jam to.

Yesterday for Valentines Day it was a treat to get a day off together. We woke up had breakfast and headed to IKEA. I wanted a new rug for the living room so Nadia can play on it. We also wanted to look for a TV stand for the TV we bought last year. The space we have it in really limited the height of the stand that we could buy. We found the perfect one. It makes such a difference on how the whole st up looks. I love it. We had no luck finding a rug, the one we wanted was $350. So we took the one we bought for her bedroom and put it on top of the old rug to give it a little more cushion. I am so scared Nadia is going to hurt herself on our hardwood floors. We came home and decorated the house a little LOL. Candles and flowers to go along with our cheese fondue, smoked salmon, and chocolate fondue. Again we played Rock Star until we were ready to pass out. We had a great day and little Nadia looked a cute in her Valentines day outfit.

A wonderful birthday

I would have to say that my birthday this year has topped many. It was a very busy day but full of accomplishments. I woke up to text messages and phone calls from friends and my parents stopped by at about 9 in the morning. I got ready and my Dad and I went to N Phoenix to turn in all of my test results and finger prints. It went very smoothly. On my way back home I got news that my clients wanted to put an offer in. I was really amazed at how at ease I felt filling everything out. I ran down to my work to drop off the MLS lockbox key so Kerri could use it. Since she was there I wanted her to look over the contract for me to make sure everything looked good. This is my first contract out here, and these are legally binding, so I wanted it to be right. She said it looked great and we only had a minute to spare before my clients walked in. We sat right down and I took them through the contract. Again, it just felt so natural. They signed, and I faxed it over and confirmed the realtor got it. It's official, I just may have sold my first home out here. Since it is a bank owned it will take a few days for them respond and they usually get multiple offers, which I explained to them. You just can't fall in love with a house until your contract is accepted. By the time I was done it was 5 and I was pretty tired from running around all day. Jacob had to work late so I took advantage of the extra time and took a shower and laid down with the baby. Jacob got home at about 8 and we headed out. I couldn't decide where to go so we ended up at The Cheesecake Factory. I should've stuck with my usual favorite. I did get a great Martini and some awesome cheesecake though! We got home around 10 and were both beat. Nadia was a wonderful little girl and slept till 445 this morning and then went back to sleep. Today Jacob has to work and tomorrow we are going to the Renaissance Festival. My friend Jamie is in town, I am really excited to see her. We should have some cute pictures from that.

Whew

I need to remind myself every time things start going wrong that good things are soon to follow. Since we did not have insurance we decided to pay out of pocket for Nadia's Dr apt on Monday. It was MUCH cheaper than our monthly insurance pmt. She is a healthy little girl weighing 14 pounds! She also got her shots, I was so sad for her, but she seemed to do well. I had to go to work so my Dad took Nadia to his house to watch her. She did pretty good that day but was a little fussy the next. She still smiles and giggles at you. She can just make anyone melt!

In other good news we have health insurance as of tomorrow, my birthday. It will be much cheaper than we were paying, but I still hope Jacob's work gets coverage soon. I took out my first clients on my own today. They have found a house they like and we should be writing a contract by this weekend. Which brings me to my next news. My boss is paying to activate my license and all monthly fee's. Tomorrow I turn in all of my paperwork and it is official. So I can truly say that I finally feel like I am in a good place and things can only get better from here. They give me leads daily, so I am hoping that I can turn this into a great living.
