Butterflies

I have today off so I woke up early and started cleaning the house. Since we have been starting to get the nursery set up we have started to think about all these other things that we are going to need. I decided that I wanted to get online and start looking at some things. We have been looking in store also, but we soon get overwhelmed with questions. That was confirmed again today as I was looking online. Jacob called and I started asking him questions. What kind of car seat should we get? The one we were thinking about only is usable until 22lbs. How long does it take a baby to get that big?? Should we just get the other one even though its more of a pain when they are small? Then there is the bottles. I plan on breastfeeding, but what kind of bottles and nipples should I get? What kind of pump? I'm sorry if this is TMI :) Even diapers. I am starting to realize that I am going to have a lot of research on my hands. While we have so many questions I just find myself getting more and more excited and giddy looking at everything!

I am no expert by any means, but I will give you what advice I have. For the carseat I would go with one that goes up till 22 pounds. The convertible ones are nice because they go from 5 pounds till like 40+. The drawback of one like that is when they are an infant you have to totally take them out anytime you go anywhere. Newborns just aren't that portable. If they are sleeping you would have to wake them up, if you went to a restaurant you where would you put them? So, I would go with an infant carseat for portability. I would think that on average they can be in that seat anywhere from nine months to a year. Once they get to be 22 lbs that thing will be so heavy you will be ready to switch to a different carseat. Ashlyn's weighs a ton and she is only 13 lbs. A sling is great for when you go shopping, etc. You don't have to haul around a heavy carseat. As for bottles I personally like Avent bottles. The nipples are really good if you are breastfeeding. I would only buy one or two bottles to start. If the baby does not like a particular brand than you don't want to waste money on a bunch of un-needed bottles. I bought so many pacifiers thinking Ashlyn would take them and she only uses the kind from the hospital. For a breastpump I HIGHLY recommend a Medala pump. They are truly the best kind you can buy. The type you buy depends on how much you pump. Since I was not working, I got the harmony which is only like $40. It is not electric but it has hospital grade suction and works really well! The electric ones are nice I have heard but they cost like $300.00. For diapers and wipes I used Pampers Swaddlers. That is the type they gave us at the hospital and I really liked them. I tried Huggies and they always leaked. I know on my birth board most everyone has really liked pampers. You are entering the really fun part where you get to start picking everything out. I hope I helped some and did not just confuse you even more. Let me know if you have any other questions. I spent a lot of time researching everything and a lot of wasted money on stuff that was crap!
