11pm, 3cm 40% effaced (seems I had lost some of my previous effacement) I was already contracting painlessly every 5 min. They started a dose of cervidil and we rested for an hour then were told to walk and hour. We did this process 3 times. By 6am I was ready to say forget it, send me home, I will go into labor on my own eventually, but I had made some improvement and they hooked me up to the pitocin, I was 4cm, 50%. Started me at 2 and bumped me up by 2 every hour. By about 1pm I was in some pain, but didn't want to do the epi yet. I was starting to dilate more, but slowly. I was also nauseated, so they suggested Stadol along with Phenegryn. Within 2 min of it being put in my IV I was VERY tired and mostly asleep, but it did not take the pain away so every time I had a contraction I felt it, but was too tired to complain. Jacob said her knew when I was contracting by the look on my face even though I was "sleeping". I woke up a couple hours later and told them I was in pain so they called for the Epidural. Went in easily and within minutes I was feeling good. The meds I were on made me very shiver so I kept trying to tell my self mind over matter, calm your body, stop the shaking, and it would work, but only for a short time. The only pain I felt was my little girl pushing hard on my ribs. I told Jacob to go get something to eat at 330 because since the Epidural was in it was getting closer to when I would deliver. Just as he left, my water broke. If I wouldn't have had a catheter in I would've thought that I just peed myself. I called my parents to tell them I was progressing nicely and they could come up to the hospital. At 6pm I was at 7cm, got another dose of my Epidural. 9pm I was complete and still numb, but I was still able to push very well according to the nurse. I did a few practice pushes and she said ok, we need to stop or you are going to push her out before the Dr can get here. So we waited, about 20min. Once the Dr came in I pushed for 5 minutes and she was out. I felt no pain except for when they were stitching me up, which was still minor.
Baby Nadia was born at 956pm, 7lbs 4oz and 19.5in. She is nursing great, we will be released on Fri. So in total it took 24hrs. We had been up nearly 48 hours and we are still working on a total of about 3 hours sleep today. We are tired! Sharing the moment of your child's birth together is the most amazing feeling in the world. As soon as she came out our eyes locked on each other then her, it really is not a feeling you can explain. Jacob was awesome during everything and is taking such great care of Nadia. He has even done all of the diaper duty so far.
